Henri Attal — Biography

Henri Attal was a French film actor, born on 13 May 1936 in the 4th arrondissement of Paris and died on 24 July 2003 in the town of Cucq in Pas-de-Calais. From the late 1950s until his death he stayed continuously active on screen, taking small supporting parts in more than one hundred fifty productions, frequently playing gangsters, policemen, or clergymen. Director Claude Chabrol repeatedly gave him roles, and he often shared scenes with fellow character actor Dominique Zardi. Russian audiences in particular remember him as an accomplice in the Fantômas trilogy. Among the many productions he appeared in are Le Point de mire, The French Detective, Tales of Paris, Les Biches, Madame Bovary, and Violette Nozière. One of his final credits, The Flower of Evil, reached cinemas the same year he passed away.
