The Train (Le Train)

Le Train, released internationally as The Train, is a 1973 French-Italian war drama directed by Pierre Granier-Deferre. Adapted from Georges Simenon's 1961 novel of the same name, it joins drama and romance against a wartime backdrop and runs about 95 minutes.

Jean-Louis Trintignant and Romy Schneider share the lead roles, with Maurice Biraud, Anne Wiazemsky, Jean-Pierre Castaldi, Henri Attal, Niké Arrighi, Serge Marquand and Georges Spanelly also in the cast. Granier-Deferre wrote the screenplay together with Pascal Jardin and Sandro Continenza.

Shooting took place at the Boulogne Studios in Paris and on location around La Rochelle, Moulins and the Ardennes, and the sets were designed by art director Jacques Saulnier. The film played under different names in different countries: Le Train – Nur ein Hauch von Glück in Germany, Noi due senza domani in Italy, O Último Trem in Brazil and Anna Kauffman in Spain.
