Le Gang
Le Gang is a 1977 French-Italian crime drama directed by Jacques Deray. It draws on the real story of postwar French criminal Pierre Loutrel, nicknamed 'Pierrot le Fou,' and his gang, who became known as the Traction Avant Gang after the Citroën model they used for their getaways. The screenplay was written by Alphonse Boudard and Jean-Claude Carrière.
The plot centers on a young man who escapes a reform school and, together with four companions, exploits the disorder of the years right after the Second World War to pull off a string of bank and factory robberies. Never having killed anyone and repeatedly slipping past the police, the five friends hope to pull off a couple more daring jobs before finally walking away with enough money to live comfortably, even as the shifting world around them and the authorities' persistence complicate that plan. Henri Attal, Jacques Sereys and Robert Dalban round out the cast.
