Your Money or Your Life

Your Money or Your Life (original title La Bourse et la Vie) is a 1966 comedy directed by Jean-Pierre Mocky, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Marcel Aymé. A co-production between France, Italy and West Germany, it brings together the most famous screen comedians of their respective countries: French legend Fernandel and German star Heinz Rühmann headline the cast, supported by performers such as Jean Poiret, Darry Cowl and Michel Galabru. The film is a loose remake of the 1931 German picture The Virtuous Sinner, in which Rühmann himself had appeared early in his career. Shooting took place at the Billancourt Studios in Paris and the Bavaria Studios in Munich, with additional location work across France, including Toulouse. Running about ninety minutes, the film blends Mocky's taste for sly mischief with the comic chemistry of its two very different leading men.
