The Pit (Çukur) (translated)

Çukur ("The Pit") is a Turkish action, drama and crime series produced by Ay Yapım for Show TV. Directed by Sinan Öztürk and written by Gökhan Horzum and Damla Serim, it premiered on 23 October 2017 and ran for four seasons, ending on 7 June 2021 after 131 episodes.

The story is set in Çukur, a rough Istanbul neighbourhood that lives by its own rules under the protection of the Koçovalı family, who have long kept drugs and outside threats away. When the family risks losing control of the district, Yamaç — the estranged youngest son — is forced to return home and shoulder a burden he never wanted, drawing the series into themes of blood ties, loyalty and the struggle for power.

The large ensemble cast is led by Aras Bulut İynemli, Dilan Çiçek Deniz, Erkan Kolçak Köstendil, Ercan Kesal, Perihan Savaş, Öner Erkan, Necip Memili and Rıza Kocaoğlu. One of the most talked-about Turkish dramas of its era, the show also won the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Series.
