İrem Altuğ — Biography

İrem Altuğ was born on 15 September 1980 in Istanbul. She began appearing on screen at the age of seven in television commercials, and in 1988 she won first place in her age category in an advertising star competition. She studied at the Mimar Sinan University Conservatory and in the Theatre Department of San Francisco State University.

Altuğ had her first film experience as a child actress in Karılar Koğuşu (1990) and went on to appear in the series Şeytan Ayrıntıda Gizlidir, Ihlamurlar Altında, Vazgeç Gönlüm, Kayıp Aranıyor and Aşk Ekmek Hayaller; her performance as Deniz in the film Nar (2011) earned her a best actress nomination. She played Rüya in Masum, Ayşe in Çukur and Sultan in Yalı Çapkını.

Also a writer, Altuğ made the award-winning short film Direk Aşk (2011), which she wrote and produced, and her first novel, San Francisco Kafası, was published in 2021.
