One Thousand and One Nights (Binbir Gece) (translated)

Binbir Gece is a three-season Turkish drama series directed by Kudret Sabancı, produced under TMC Film and broadcast on Kanal D from 7 November 2006 to 12 May 2009. The story follows Şehrazat, an architect who loses her husband in a traffic accident, as she tries to raise 200,000 dollars for her leukemia-stricken son's treatment; after her wealthy father-in-law Burhan Bey turns her down, she approaches the young boss of the company where she works, a decision that upends her life. Halit Ergenç and Bergüzar Korel star in the lead roles, with a cast that also includes Ceyda Düvenci, Canan Ergüder, Mert Fırat, Meral Çetinkaya and Ege Aydan.

Loosely inspired by the classic One Thousand and One Nights tales, the 90-episode series won the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Series and was broadcast to high ratings across the Balkans, the Middle East and Latin America — including Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru and Brazil — becoming one of the most successful exports of Turkish television.
