Halit Ergenç was born in 1970 in İstanbul.

He completed his education in the Opera and Musical Theatre Acting department of Mimar Sinan University.

Ergenç, who devoted a large part of his life to the theatre, worked in musicals, opera, and ballet.

He took part in series such as Tatlı Kaçıklar, Kara Melek, Zerda, Baba, Aliye, and Acı Aşk.

In 2006 he made a major breakthrough with the character Onur, whom he portrayed in the series Binbir Gece.

In 2011 he portrayed Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent in the series Muhteşem Yüzyıl and won great acclaim from audiences for his performance.

He portrays Captain Cevdet in the series Vatanım Sensin, broadcast on Kanal D.

He has also been part of the cast of films such as Okul, Babam ve Oğlum, İlk Aşk, Dersimiz Atatürk, and Ali ve Nino.
