Intoxicated by Love (Mevlana Mesti Aşk)

Mevlana Mest-i Aşk (Intoxicated by Love) is a 2024 Iranian-Turkish co-production blending historical drama and romance. Directed by Hassan Fathi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Farhad Tohidi, the film was made by Dijital Danatlar and Simarya Film Production. Its story portrays a chapter in the lives of the 13th-century Persian poets Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi and Shams Tabrizi and the transformative bond between them.

Iranian actors Parsa Pirouzfar and Shahab Hosseini take the lead roles, joined by Turkish stars including Hande Erçel, Halit Ergenç, Selma Ergeç, Bensu Soral, Boran Kuzum, Burak Tozkoparan and İbrahim Çelikkol. Filming began in 2019 but was interrupted by the pandemic and financial disputes; released in Iran on 24 April 2024, it became the highest-grossing non-comedy film in the country's cinema history.
