Yonca Şahinbaş — Biography

Yonca Şahinbaş was born on July 6, 1972, in Istanbul. The daughter of well-known Yeşilçam actor Mahmut Cevher, she was drawn to the performing arts from an early age and graduated from the Theatre Department of Mimar Sinan University's State Conservatory in 1994. While still a student she performed with the State Theatres, and in 1991 she began working as a voice-over artist.

She made her screen debut in the 1993 series Yaz Evi, and in the years that followed appeared in popular productions of the era such as Gurur, Çiçek Taksi, Kurt Kapanı, Parça Pinçik, Aşkına Eşkıya and Asmalı Konak. From the mid-2000s she took roles in Avrupa Yakası, Üvey Ana, Paydos and Binbir Gece, later joining the casts of Aşk Bir Hayal, Kızım Nerede, Dila Hanım and Asla Vazgeçmem. In 2017 she played Asiye in Show TV's Yeni Gelin, and she has kept working into the 2020s, taking on the role of Vedia in Kalp Yarası and returning to screens in 2026 as Selma Emindağ in the series Muhtemel Aşk.

In her personal life, Şahinbaş married stage designer Tevfik Ali Yenel, with whom she had a son, Ali Deniz, and in January 2015 she married actor Koray Şahinbaş. In 2022 she became a mother-in-law when her son got married.
