Tatar Ramazan in Exile (Tatar Ramazan Sürgünde) (translated)

Directed and produced by Melih Gülgen under Gülgen Film, this 1992 Turkish prison film is the second and final chapter continuing the story of the first Tatar Ramazan film. Written by Safa Önal from characters rooted in Kerim Korcan's prison observations, the story opens in 1942, during World War II, accompanied by newspaper headlines of the era. Salih Dikişçi served as cinematographer, and the soundtrack features songs by Ahmet Kaya.

When Tatar Ramazan, whose reputation arrives before him, is exiled to Adana Closed Prison, Abdurrahman Çavuş — who has long run a feudal order inside — and his right-hand man Akseli Ali grow alarmed, while the oppressed inmates welcome Ramazan as a savior. Kadir İnanır stars in the lead, supported by Esin Moralıoğlu, Hayati Hamzaoğlu, Yıldırım Gencer and Kazım Kartal.
