Street Girl (Sokak Kızı) (translated)

Sokak Kızı ("Street Girl") is a black-and-white 1962 Yeşilçam production directed by Osman F. Seden, one of the era's most prolific filmmakers, from a screenplay by Bülent Oran; Necati İlktaç handled the cinematography and Metin Bükey the score, with Kemal Film producing.

Led by Fikret Hakan and Fatma Girik, the story follows a wealthy factory owner's son and a poor young street vendor who supports her siblings in a working-class Istanbul neighborhood. Resisting a marriage arranged purely to merge two family businesses, he grows close to the very neighborhood slated for demolition and the solidarity of its residents, ultimately forcing him to choose between money and genuine feeling.
