Ahmet Tarık Tekçe — Biography

Ahmet Tarık Tekçe (15 December 1920, Istanbul – 4 October 1964, Karabük) was one of the busiest supporting actors of Turkey's Yeşilçam cinema. Educated at Galatasaray High School and Işık Lisesi, he worked at the Camialtı Workshop of the state shipping line Denizyolları and later at the Haliç Feneri civil registry office before turning to acting, having also published a humor newspaper called Adalar-Paravan.

Tekçe entered film in the mid-1950s, starting with Kader (1955), and went on to appear in productions such as Tütün Zamanı, Aşk Rüyası and Aşkın Gözyaşları (all 1959), Aliii (1960) and Siyah Melek (1961). Through the early 1960s he became one of the most prolific actors of his generation, taking on small and supporting roles in hundreds of films. Married to and later separated from theatre actress Nezihe Becerikli, he died in Karabük at age 43, the same year his film Muhteşem Serseri (1964) was released.
