Movie · 2002–2009 · 16 people

Pains of Autumn (Güz Sancısı) is a 2008 Turkish drama film directed by Tomris Giritlioğlu and adapted from Yılmaz Karakoyunlu's novel of the same name. Scripted by Nilgün Öneş, Etyen Mahçupyan, Tayfun Pirselimoğlu and Ali Ulvi Hünkar, it opened nationwide in Turkey on 23 January 2009 and ranked among the highest-grossing Turkish productions of that year, with Bahadır Atay and Fatih Enes Ömeroğlu producing.

Set amid the rising political tension of 1955 Istanbul, the story follows Behçet (Murat Yıldırım), a law faculty assistant pulled toward nationalism under his father's influence, who falls for Elena (Beren Saat), the Greek woman he secretly watches from his window. Addressing the 6–7 September pogrom and seen as a successor to Salkım Hanımın Taneleri, the film stirred wide debate; its cast also includes Okan Yalabık, Belçim Bilgin, Tuncel Kurtiz and Umut Kurt.
