Avni Yalçın — Biography

Born in 1947 in Istanbul, Avni Yalçın is a Turkish film and television actor whose career began on the stage. He performed with the Istanbul City Theatres and the Dostlar Theatre, and is most widely remembered by audiences for playing the mustachioed literature teacher Avni in the beloved comedy film Hababam Sınıfı Tatilde.

He was also active on television, playing the character Şevket in the series Hatırla Sevgili until the character died of a heart attack in the late 1960s within the show's storyline, after which he joined the cast of the series Karayılan. On screen, he portrayed the character Yorgo in the 2009 film Güz Sancısı. He was married for a time to fellow actress Ayşegül Devrim.
