Passed by Censor (Görülmüştür)

Passed by Censor (Görülmüştür) is a 2019 drama film written and directed by Serhat Karaaslan, produced as a co-production between Turkey, Germany, and France. The film tells the story of Zakir, a letter-reading officer in an Istanbul prison whose job is to censor inmates' letters and stamp them with 'seen'. Living a monotonous life with his mother in a modest home on the edge of the city, everything changes for the withdrawn Zakir when he comes across a photo of Selma, the strikingly beautiful wife of Recep, one of the prison's troublesome inmates.

Starring Berkay Ateş and Saadet Işıl Aksoy, the film premiered at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in July 2019. It won Best Editing and Best Supporting Actress (Füsun Demirel) at the 2019 Adana Golden Boll Film Festival and was released in Turkish cinemas on 20 September 2019.
