Sal Borgese — Biography
Born Giuseppe Salvatore Borgese in Rome on 5 March 1937, he built his career under the name Sal Borgese, occasionally billed under alternate names such as Mark Trevor, Dick Gordon, Michael Franz or Salvatore Borghese. Across a career of some six decades in Italian cinema he combined acting with a sideline as a stunt performer and acrobat, turning up in dozens of Spaghetti Westerns, sword-and-sandal epics and spy thrillers. He is especially remembered for supporting turns opposite Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, frequently cast as the hapless sidekick who takes the punches in their popular comedies. He picked up the Tabernas de Cine award in 2018. His filmography spans titles such as Barabbas, Adiós Sabata and Il Marchese del Grillo, and he remains a familiar face to fans of classic Italian genre film.
