The Payoff

The Payoff (original title: La mazzetta) is a 1978 Italian crime comedy directed by Sergio Corbucci. The film adapts Attilio Veraldi's 1976 crime novel of the same name, with a screenplay credited to Veraldi alongside Arduino Maiuri and Luciano De Crescenzo. It brings together two leading figures of Italian cinema, Nino Manfredi and Ugo Tognazzi, in the principal roles, supported by a cast that includes Paolo Stoppa, Marisa Laurito and Marisa Merlini. Running about 110 minutes, the picture blends a crime story with the comic register typical of popular Italian filmmaking of the period.
