Man Called Invincible (Lo chiamavano Tresette... giocava sempre col morto)
Man Called Invincible (Italian: Lo chiamavano Tresette... giocava sempre col morto) is a 1973 Italian spaghetti western comedy, directed by Giuliano Carnimeo under his regular pseudonym Anthony Ascott from a script by Tito Carpi. It runs about eighty-eight minutes and leaves the usual solemn mood of the genre behind, treating western conventions with broad humour. The Italian title roughly means "They called him Tresette... he always played with the dead man"; Tresette is an Italian card game.
George Hilton stars as the card player of the title. The cast includes Ida Galli, Nello Pazzafini and Sal Borgese, together with Rosalba Neri, Maurice Poli, Cris Huerta, Umberto D'Orsi, Antonio Monselesan, Claudio Ruffini, Carla Mancini, Fortunato Arena and Furio Meniconi. It was shot in Italian.
The film reached German-speaking cinemas on 27 July 1973 as Kennst Du das Land, wo blaue Bohnen blüh'n? and is also known in English as They Called Him the Player with the Dead, In the West There Was a Man Named Invincible and Tricky Dicky. A sequel followed whose title answers the original's wordplay: Di Tresette ce n'è uno, tutti gli altri son nessuno, "there is only one Tresette, all the others are nobody".
