Gianni Rizzo — Biography

Gianni Rizzo (born Giovanni Rizzo; April 5, 1924, Brindisi – February 4, 1992, Rome) was an Italian film and stage actor whose career spanned more than four decades and over seventy productions.

Active between 1944 and 1986, he became a familiar supporting player in Italian genre cinema, appearing in peplum epics such as The Ten Gladiators and Zorro and the Three Musketeers, spaghetti westerns including Sabata Dönüyor (Adiós, Sabata) and If You Meet Sartana Pray for Your Death, and assorted spy thrillers. He is also remembered for playing the antagonist in the 1967 science-fiction film Mission Stardust, based on the Perry Rhodan series.

Rizzo died in Rome at the age of 67; The Name of the Rose (1986) is counted among the final films of his long screen career.
