Milton Reid — Biography

Milton Reid, born Milton Rutherford Reid on 29 April 1917 in Bombay, was an actor and former professional wrestler who died in 1987. Most reference works describe him as Anglo-Indian, while Turkish sources report that he was born to a Scottish father and an Indian mother during the years of British rule in India.

He moved to Britain as a young man and wrestled professionally under the ring name The Mighty Chang. After leaving the sport for acting, his imposing build kept him busy for decades in British films and television, almost always in supporting parts as heavies, guards and villains.

His screen credits include Ferry to Hong Kong (1959) alongside Orson Welles and Curd Jürgens, Swiss Family Robinson (1960), Captain Clegg (1962), and the James Bond entries Dr. No (1962), Casino Royale (1967) and The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) with Roger Moore. He also appeared in The People That Time Forgot (1977) and Arabian Adventure (1979). He played To-go in Desperate Mission (1965) and Dev in the Turkish film Adsız Cengaver (1970). He died in India, where he had long lived; Wikidata gives Bengaluru as the place of death.
