Desperate Mission

Desperate Mission is a 1965 Eurospy film co-produced by Italy, Spain and France, directed by Roberto Bianchi Montero. Known in Italian as Agente Z 55 missione disperata, it was released in Spain as Agente Z-55, misión Hong Kong and in France as Agent Z-55, mission désespérée. Written by Alfonso Balcázar and starring Germán Cobos, the film runs 108 minutes and was shot in Italian and Spanish. Its cast also features Yoko Tani, Gianni Rizzo, Milton Reid, Giovanni Cianfriglia, José Calvo and Carlos Otero, making it a typical example of the wave of secret agent pictures that swept European cinema in the mid-1960s.

The film proved successful enough to receive a sequel in 1967 titled Blueprint for a Massacre, known in Spanish as Técnica para un sabotaje. The international co-production reflects the collaborative production model common among Italian, Spanish and French genre filmmaking of the era.
