The Rebel Gladiators (Aslan Yürekli Cengaver)

The Rebel Gladiators (original Italian title Ursus il gladiatore ribelle) is a 1962 Italian peplum adventure film directed by Domenico Paolella. A typical product of the sword-and-sandal cycle popular in Italian cinema at the time, it belongs to the series of mythological hero films built around the strongman figure Ursus. The leading roles are played by Dan Vadis, José Greci and Alan Steel, with Sal Borgese, Nello Pazzafini, Fernando Tamberlani and Gloria Milland among the supporting cast. Paolella co-wrote the screenplay with Sergio Sollima, and Carlo Savina composed the score. The film runs about ninety minutes and was shot in Italian. It received a uniformly poor critical reception; it reached German cinemas in late 1963 under the title Kampf der Giganten and circulated internationally under several other titles, including the French Ursus le rebelle.
