Goodbye Berlin

Goodbye Berlin (original German title Tschick) is a 2016 German comedy-drama road movie directed by Fatih Akın. Adapted from Wolfgang Herrndorf's bestselling 2010 novel, which sold over two million copies in some thirty countries, the screenplay was written by Hark Bohm, Fatih Akın and Lars Hubrich. The film premiered on 12 September 2016 at Berlin's Kino International and opened in German cinemas on 15 September 2016.

The story follows 14-year-old Maik Klingenberg, who grows up in a wealthy but dysfunctional Berlin family. When his mother enters a rehabilitation clinic and his father vanishes on a supposed business trip, Maik is left to spend the summer alone. Then Tschick, the class's new Russian-immigrant outsider, shows up at his door in a stolen Lada Niva, and the two misfits set off on an unplanned journey across Eastern Germany. Starring Tristan Göbel, Anand Batbileg and Mercedes Müller, the film received mostly positive reviews in Germany.
