Directed by Orhan Aksoy from a screenplay he wrote with Suphi Tekniker, the 1975 Turkish romantic musical Bir Araya Gelemeyiz stars Orhan Gencebay opposite Hülya Koçyiğit. Orhan, a man from Samsun, is sent to prison after killing the people who destroyed his brother's life. During his years behind bars he anonymously mails his songs to Füsun, the love of his youth; she rises to fame performing them, never learning who composed the music. Freed under an amnesty, Orhan settles in Samsun and carries on his father's boat-building trade. A business trip brings him to Istanbul, to the very district where Füsun lives, where a chance reunion with former prison mates pulls him into a perilous affair that soon entangles Füsun as well. Produced by Gülşah Film, the picture follows a hidden love and a man unable to outrun his past, told through the songs that bind the two leads.
