Refika Birgül — Biography
Refika Birgül (born 19 May 1980 in Istanbul) is a Turkish food writer, journalist and television presenter. Wikidata records her birthplace only as "Turkey", but the Turkish, English and French Wikipedias agree on Istanbul. She was educated at Robert College and Koç University.
She is the founder of the Refika'nın Mutfağı (Refika's Kitchen) brand. She wrote a weekly food column of that name for Turkey's Hürriyet Daily News, hosted the cookery show Mucize Lezzetler (Miracle Tastes), and runs cooking channels on YouTube in both Turkish and English. In 2010 she published her first bilingual cookbook, Refika'nın Mutfağı / Cooking New Istanbul Style, which was translated into Bulgarian in 2023.
In recent years she has featured widely in the Turkish press with advice on cutting kitchen waste, appeared as a guest on MasterChef, and returned to screens for Ramadan 2026 with the NOW TV programme "Refika'yla Özlediğimiz Ramazanlar". Her team has also run the Istanbul Marathon in aid of the TEMA Foundation.
