Mommy, I'm Scared (Korkuyorum Anne)

Korkuyorum Anne, also known as What Is a Human Anyway?, is a 2004 Turkish comedy film directed by Reha Erdem, who co-wrote the screenplay with Nilüfer Güngörmüş. After Ali loses his memory in an accident, his family and neighbors rally to help him, yet their frantic efforts to restore his past gradually bring about transformations in everyone involved, forcing each character to face their own reflection.

Set in an unspecified time period, the film accompanies its story with depictions of what happens inside the human body, searching for an answer to the question "What is a human being?" Starring Ali Düşenkalkar alongside Işıl Yücesoy, Köksal Engür, Şenay Gürler and Bülent Emin Yarar, it paints a tragicomic portrait of life in which those afraid of living take refuge first in their mothers, then in their loved ones.
