Jin

Jîn is a 2013 Turkish-German drama film directed and written by Reha Erdem and produced by Ömer Atay. Shot amid the natural landscapes of Mount Ida and the inner Taurus Mountains, it premiered on February 8, 2013 at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival and opened in Türkiye on March 15, 2013. Its title means "life" in Kurdish, and the 122-minute film centers on the solitary journey of a single character.

The story follows a 17-year-old guerrilla fighter who deserts her mountain unit and tries to leave the conflict region in eastern Turkey for the city of İzmir. On her way down she confronts nature, animals, and the people she encounters, oscillating between fear, survival, and innocence. Deniz Hasgüler plays the lead, joined by Onur Ünsal, Saygın Soysal, Şenay Aydın, and Yıldırım Şimşek. The film won Best Film at the Adelaide Film Festival and Best Director at the Golden Adana Film Festival.
