My World (Benim Dünyam) (translated)

Benim Dünyam is a 2013 Turkish drama film directed by Uğur Yücel, who also stars in it. Produced by TMC Film from a screenplay by Uğraş Güneş and Can Yücel, the film features Beren Saat as Ela, a young woman who lost her sight and hearing after an illness at the age of two. The supporting cast includes Ayça Bingöl, Melis Mutluç, Turgay Kantürk, Hazar Ergüçlü, Yasemin Conka, and Erdal Küçükkömürcü. The film is a remake of the 2005 Indian film Black, itself adapted from Helen Keller's autobiographical novel The Story of My Life.

The story follows Ela, who grows up unable to connect with her surroundings, until she meets Mahir Hoca, a teacher who devotes his life to reaching and educating her. The film premiered on 22 October 2013 and opened in cinemas on 25 October. It also drew media attention over a dispute with Black director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who claimed remake rights had never been purchased.
