Movie · 2002 · 8 people

Gönlümdeki Köşk Olmasa (Danish: Omfavn mig måne) is a 2002 drama film directed by Denmark's Elisabeth Rygaard and made as a co-production of Turkey, Denmark, and Iceland. Written by Rygaard together with Yüksel Işık, the 88-minute film opened in cinemas on June 7, 2002.

The story portrays the experience of the first generation of Turkish migrant workers who headed to Europe in the early 1970s, seen through the eyes of a young child. Osman, who eventually settles in Denmark like his family and becomes a saz player, confronts his father and returns to his childhood: the poverty and loneliness of the summer of 1970, when his parents left him behind, and his encounter with the folk poet Aşık Veysel form the emotional core. The cast includes Bora Akkaş, Mazlum Çimen, Menderes Samancılar, Serra Yılmaz, and Tomris İncer; Çimen also composed the music, earning the Best Music award at the 39th Golden Orange Film Festival.
