Black Rose (Karagül) (translated)

Karagül (international title Black Rose) is a Turkish drama series produced by Avşar Film that ran for four seasons and 125 episodes between 2013 and 2016. Written by Erkan Birgören and directed by Murat Saraçoğlu and Günay Günaydın, the series was partly filmed in the Halfeti district of Şanlıurfa, home to the rare black roses that give the show its name.

The story follows a bride who marries into a family that appears respectable on the surface but is built on hidden secrets, and her struggle as those secrets come to light. The cast was led by Ece Uslu, Özlem Conker, Hilal Altınbilek, Mert Yazıcıoğlu and Mesut Akusta. Originally broadcast on FOX Turkey (later rebranded NOW), Karagül was also dubbed into Arabic for Middle Eastern audiences and aired in Serbia on Pink TV, building an audience beyond Turkey.
