Going: My Marlon and Brando (Gitmek: My Marlon And Brando) (translated)

Gitmek: My Marlon and Brando is a 2008 Turkish drama directed by Hüseyin Karabey, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ayça Damgacı. Karabey's first feature-length work, the independent production is adapted from the real-life love story between Damgacı and Hama Ali, an actor from Iraqi Kurdistan, and both leads play themselves on screen. Filming took place in late 2007 along a roughly six-thousand-kilometre route stretching from Istanbul, Diyarbakır, Mardin, Silopi and Van to Urmia in Iran and Erbil and Sulaymaniyah in Iraq.

Ayça and Hama Ali meet on a film set in Istanbul and fall in love, but must part when shooting ends and Hama Ali returns to Northern Iraq. The outbreak of the Iraq War makes their reunion nearly impossible, and while everyone else flees the conflict, Ayça sets out on a reverse journey from west to east to reach the man she loves. The cast also features Cengiz Bozkurt, Nesrin Cavadzade, Mahir Günşıray and Ani İpekkaya.
