Cengiz Bozkurt — Biography
Mehmet Cengiz Bozkurt was born on 24 December 1965 in Nevşehir. After Ankara Atatürk High School, he began studying physics at Middle East Technical University in 1984, but in 1990 he decided to become a stage actor, left the department and moved to England. In London he graduated in Media and Communication from Goldsmiths, University of London in 1996; he shot documentaries, directed short films and served as general artistic director of the Arcola Theatre, of which he was one of the founders. After returning to Turkey, he appeared on screen in 2005 with the series Kurşun Yarası and became widely known as Erdal Bakkal in Leyla ile Mecnun. He played Cengiz Özpamuk in Jet Sosyete and appeared in films such as Yumurta, Kaybedenler Kulübü, Berlin Kaplanı, Eyyvah Eyvah 3 and Kuru Otlar Üstüne. In 2024 he was seen in Kuvvetli Bir Alkış and Leyla: Hayat... Aşk... Adalet.... In May 2026, while performing in the musical Don Kişot, he tore his Achilles tendon and underwent surgery.
