Osman Sonant — Biography

Osman Sonant, born on 1 March 1979 in Istanbul, is a Turkish stage, film, and television actor. He began acting in 1997 as a student of Yılmaz Gruda at the Bahçelievler Municipal Theatre, later worked at Ferhan Şensoy's Ortaoyuncular Nöbetçi Theatre, and graduated from the Stage Arts Department of Istanbul University State Conservatory.

He entered cinema with Kurtlar Vadisi Irak (2006) and won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 16th Golden Boll Film Festival for his role in Pandora'nın Kutusu (2008); he also appeared in films such as Yolsuzlar Çetesi, Memleket, Kırık Kalpler Bankası, İtirazım Var, and Yangın Var. On television, after debuting with Behzat Ç. Bir Ankara Polisiyesi, he played Yavuz in Leyla ile Mecnun from 2011 to 2013 and Orhan in Beş Kardeş, as well as roles in Fi, Görünen Adam, Türk Malı, and Ben de Özledim.

Sonant played Kerim Adil Sağlam, nicknamed El Turco, in Ufak Tefek Cinayetler, Loukas Notaras in the Netflix production Rise of Empires: Ottoman, and Murat Siyavuş in the dystopian series Sıcak Kafa. More recently he has appeared in projects such as Bihter, Mukadderat, and Umami (as Renzo), and in 2025 starred alongside Ulvi Kahyaoğlu, Taner Birsel, and Ercan Kesal in the film Sahte 9.
