Awakening: The Great Seljuk Empire (Uyanış: Büyük Selçuklu) (translated)

Uyanış: Büyük Selçuklu is a Turkish historical drama produced by Akli Film, directed by Sedat İnci and written by Serdar Özönalan and Emre Konuk. It premiered on TRT 1 on 28 September 2020 and concluded its single season with its 34th episode on 31 May 2021, later followed by the successor series Alparslan: Büyük Selçuklu. Filming took place at studios and locations in Sakarya, Istanbul and Kocaeli, after a preparation period of roughly 13 months.

The series portrays the state structure, political events and wars of the 11th-century Great Seljuk Empire through the lives of Sultan Melikşah and his son Sencer, depicting struggles against external foes such as Byzantium and the Crusaders as well as internal rebellions. Buğra Gülsoy, Ekin Koç, Hatice Şendil, Gürkan Uygun and Sevda Erginci star. With an opening theme by Gökhan Kırdar, the show became a major hit in Turkey and gained popularity in countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan.
