Mehmet Özgür — Biography

Mehmet Özgür was born on 30 August 1970 in the Korkuteli district of Antalya. He is a graduate of the Theatre Department of Istanbul University. He began his artistic career in 1988 by taking to the stage in Antalya; in 1993 he joined the Antalya State Theatre. He is the general art director of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Theatre.

The actor, who first appeared in front of the camera in 2004, became known with the role of Necip Yılmaz in Kollama, broadcast between 2008 and 2011, and gained great fame in 2012 with the character Takoz İrfan in Suskunlar. He went on to appear in series such as Muhteşem Yüzyıl, Çalıkuşu, Filinta and Söz, and in films such as Tepenin Ardı, Abluka and Ölümlü Dünya.

In 2020 he portrayed Nizâmülmülk in Uyanış: Büyük Selçuklu and in 2021 in Alparslan: Büyük Selçuklu. In 2025 he took on the roles of Osman Maçari in Gözleri KaraDeniz and Orhan Basmacıgil in Sekizinci Aile; in 2026 he joined the cast of ATV's series Mercan Köşk.
