Alper Kul — Biography

Born İsmail Alper Kul on 5 December 1975 in Istanbul, his family had Trabzon entered as his official birthplace on the population registry because his relatives were from there. After workshop training he studied at Indiana University's Theatre Department in the United States and performed with companies including the City Theatres, DOT and BKM from 1994 onward.

He began his screen career with Hamam in 1997 and drew attention in Kınalı Kar in 2002. He played the same lead character in Sümela'nın Şifresi: Temel and Moskova'nın Şifresi: Temel, appeared in Olur Olur, which he also wrote, and featured in the Ölümlü Dünya series. He spent many years on the cast of Güldür Güldür Show and later explained to the press the real reason he left the program. He brought Broadway's longest-running one-man show to Türkiye in a local adaptation, staged a play he wrote himself for years, and published a novel.

Kul is married to actress Aylin Kontente and the couple have two sons; he has more recently said he lost money on a farming venture in Balıkesir.
