Hot Skull (Sıcak Kafa)
For Netflix, Tims&B Productions made Hot Skull (Turkish: Sıcak Kafa), a dystopian Turkish thriller and adventure series. It arrived on the platform on 2 December 2022 and ran for a single season of eight episodes, each roughly an hour long. It is adapted from Afşin Kum's novel of the same name, published in Turkey in November 2016, and builds on an unusual premise in which language itself carries the disease.
The story begins in a world where madness passes from person to person through speech. Murat Siyavuş, a former linguist, is for some unexplained reason the one person the epidemic leaves untouched. He has long sheltered in a safe zone, but is forced out once the Anti-Epidemic Institution begins looking for him. Running through the burning, ruined streets of Istanbul, he tries to understand the "hot skull" the illness has left on him as a permanent mark. Osman Sonant, Hazal Subaşı and Şevket Çoruh share the leading roles, with Tilbe Saran and Evren Duyal also in the cast.
Mert Baykal and Umur Turagay directed, and the scripts are by Mert Baykal, Müjgan Ferhan Şensoy, Zafer Külünk and Gökhan Şeker. A second season was planned but never made, so the series stands as a one-season story.
