Eagle of the Mountains (Dağların Kartalı) (translated)

Dağların Kartalı (Eagle of the Mountains) is a 1970 Turkish film written and directed by Feyzi Tuna. The 90-minute colour production was made by Uğur Film with Memduh Ün as producer and Gani Turanlı as director of photography, and was shot among the distinctive rock formations of Cappadocia.

Blending adventure with melodrama, the story opens as two close friends part ways after a robbery. Once the gendarmerie picks up the trail of Şehmuz and Ökkeş, a drawing of lots sends Ökkeş off to find transport, and he never comes back; Şehmuz is caught and imprisoned. In jail he befriends Kerem, and the moment they are released the pair go looking for Ökkeş, until meeting Ökkeş's daughter changes every plan Şehmuz had made.

Ayhan Işık heads the cast as Kara Şehmuz, with Kadir İnanır as Serçe, Hayati Hamzaoğlu as Parlak Ökkeş, Hülya Darcan as Ökkeş's daughter and Bilâl İnci as Gaffar. As was customary in Turkish cinema of the period, most of the performers were dubbed by voice actors, with Acar Film handling the dubbing and post-production work.
