Beyond the Sea

Beyond the Sea is a 2004 biographical musical drama chronicling the life of American singer and actor Bobby Darin. Director Barry Levinson first attempted to bring Darin's story to the screen in 1986; when he eventually stepped away from the project, Kevin Spacey and Darin's son Dodd acquired the rights instead. Spacey went on to direct, co-write, and star in the film, performing the musical numbers in his own voice, while Kate Bosworth plays Darin's wife, actress Sandra Dee.

A German-American co-production, the film was shot between November 2003 and January 2004 and released in December 2004. It underperformed at the box office and drew mixed reviews, though Spacey's performance earned a Golden Globe nomination. The supporting cast includes Kate Bosworth, John Goodman, Bob Hoskins, and Brenda Blethyn. Produced by Trigger Street Productions, the film's broader credits also include Turkish actors Tayfun Bademsoy and Orhan Güner.
