Plano a Plano made the police-themed daily soap Servir y proteger ("Serve and protect") for Spain's public broadcaster Televisión Española, which aired it on La 1 Monday to Friday from its premiere on Monday, April 24, 2017. The run lasted seven seasons and 1,372 episodes of 55 to 65 minutes each, ending with the finale on January 16, 2023.

The story follows the daily routine of a National Police (CNP) station in the south of present-day Madrid. Alicia, a talented rookie fresh out of the academy, joins the Distrito Sur station and learns the ropes from veteran detective Miralles and streetwise agent Batista, while trying to find the truth about her mother's death. In its last season the cast was led by Luisa Martín, Pablo Puyol, Thais Blume, Juan Díaz, Candela Serrat, Roberto Álvarez, Pepa Aniorte, Mamen Camacho and Juanjo Artero; Verónika Moral is also among its actors.

Over its run about 60 regular actors, 300 guest actors and 9,000 extras worked on the show, with 17,000 hours of filming and over 55,000 script pages. The first season ran to February 15, 2018, and TVE announced in September 2022 that the seventh would be the last.
