Servir y proteger

Servir y proteger is a Spanish police soap opera made by Plano a Plano for Televisión Española and broadcast daily on La 1. It debuted on 24 April 2017 and wrapped up on 16 January 2023, after seven seasons and 1,372 episodes of roughly an hour each.

The story is set in a National Police station in the southern district of Madrid. At the outset, Alicia, a promising young officer fresh out of the academy, arrives at the Distrito Sur station; as she picks up the trade from seasoned detective Miralles and street-smart agent Batista, she also pursues the truth behind her mother's death. The cases the officers handle tend to be socially rooted issues rather than major felonies, including evictions, troubles faced by immigrants and violence against women. Alongside the police work, the series follows the private lives, worries and hopes of the station's staff. Over its uninterrupted five-year run, dozens of regular actors passed through the show, among them Luisa Martín, Pablo Puyol and Thaïs Blume.
