Servir y proteger

Servir y proteger (meaning "Serve and protect") is a Spanish police drama and soap opera produced by Plano a Plano for Televisión Española. The production, whose first episode aired on La 1 on 24 April 2017, came to an end on 16 January 2023; 1,372 episodes were broadcast over seven seasons. Its directors included Inma Torrente, Alexandra Graf and Rubén Torrejón.

The production deals with the everyday workings of a National Police station in a neighbourhood in the south of Madrid. The cases investigated by the officers are mostly not serious crimes but matters of a social nature, such as problems involving immigrants, evictions or violence against women, which nevertheless leave a deep mark on the lives of those affected. Placing the police station at the centre of the narrative, the production also conveys the characters' problems, anxieties, hopes and joys.
