Climates (İklimler)

Climates is a 2006 Turkish-French co-production drama written and directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, who also plays the lead role. Taking its title from André Maurois's novel Climats, it was Ceylan's first feature shot on high-definition video and opened in Turkey on 20 October 2006.

The film traces the deteriorating relationship between İsa, an architect, and his wife Bahar, who works in television, moving from the bright summer sun of Kaş to the snow-covered landscapes of Ağrı. Ceylan and his real-life wife Ebru Ceylan portray the couple, alongside Nazan Kesal, Arif Aşçı and Ufuk Bayraktar. Screened in the main competition of the 59th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the FIPRESCI prize, the film also collected awards at festivals including Antalya, Istanbul and Chicago.
