Uzak is a 2002 Turkish drama film by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, who not only directed but also shot and edited it, co-writing the screenplay with Cemil Kavukçu. It closes the trilogy Ceylan began with Kasaba (1998) and continued with Mayıs Sıkıntısı, unfolding in snow-covered Istanbul through carefully composed long takes.

The story follows Mahmut, a photographer whose life has lost meaning as he drifts from his ideals, and Yusuf, a young man from his hometown who moves in after losing his factory job and dreams of working on a ship. The 109-minute film won the Grand Prix at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival, where leads Muzaffer Özdemir and Mehmet Emin Toprak shared the Best Actor award. It was Toprak's final role before his death in a car accident in late 2002, and the film was Turkey's official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
