Gassal

Gassal (also released as The Late Offices) is a Turkish drama-comedy web series made for tabii, the streaming platform of the broadcaster TRT. It was produced in 2024 and began streaming on December 21, 2024. Ahmet Kural plays the lead, and Selçuk Aydemir directs.

The hero, Baki, lives alongside death by trade: a gassal is the person who washes the deceased and prepares them for burial. After he comes face to face with death himself, one question stays with him and pushes him to rethink his life: when his own time comes, who will wash him? While looking for an answer, Baki confronts his loneliness and finds new meaning in everyday existence. Özlem Tokaslan appears as Gülşen, and Hande Soral joined the cast for the second season.

The subject is heavy, yet the show keeps a light touch with humor sprinkled throughout, aiming to make viewers think about the value of life while remaining enjoyable to watch.
