My Mother's Wound (Annemin Yarası) (translated)

My Mother's Wound is a 2016 Turkish drama film directed by Ozan Açıktan. Produced by Necati Akpınar, the film was shot in Türkiye, as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, and Macedonia.

The film traces the events of a drama during the Bosnian War. Salih, who grew up in an orphanage in Zenica, sets out to find his family when he turns eighteen. His journey leads him to the truth about his mother, Nerma, who was raped by a Serbian commander during the war, and the dark past that followed. Driven by a desire to avenge his mother's suffering, Salih pursues the perpetrator while also having to confront his own identity.

The film stars Meryem Uzerli (Mariya), Ozan Güven (Borislav), Okan Yalabık (Mirsad), Belçim Bilgin (Nerma), and Bora Akkaş as Salih. Okan Yalabık received the Ayhan Işık Special Award at the 22nd Sadri Alışık Awards for his performance in this film.
