Ozan Güven — Biography

Ozan Güven was born in Nuremberg, Germany, on 19 May 1975 to a family of Bulgarian immigrant background, and trained in modern dance at Mimar Sinan University before studying acting at the İzmir Municipal Conservatory and working with Şahika Tekand's theatre company.

He debuted in 1998 in Çiçeği Büyütmek and gained recognition through İkinci Bahar, Koçum Benim, Bir İstanbul Masalı and Canım Ailem; playing Mehmet in the 2000 film Balalayka won him Most Promising Actor prizes from SİYAD and Sadri Alışık, and Ümit Ünal's 9 brought a ÇASOD Special Jury Award. Alongside his friend Cem Yılmaz he appeared in G.O.R.A, A.R.O.G and Yahşi Batı, played Rüstem Pasha in Muhteşem Yüzyıl and Can Manay in Fi, and both starred in and co-wrote Annemin Yarası, followed by roles in Babil (2020) and Taş Kağıt Makas (2024).

He married director Türkan Derya in 2005, had a son, Ali Ateş, and divorced in 2010. In 2020 his former girlfriend Deniz Bulutsuz accused him of assault; after roughly five and a half years, the case ended with a two-year, three-month prison sentence, the cancellation of some of his theatre performances, and a public apology from Güven.
