Cem Yılmaz — Biography

Cem Yılmaz was born on 23 April 1973 in Istanbul and studied tourism and hotel management at Boğaziçi University, where he began drawing cartoons for the humor magazine Leman. After his first stand-up show in 1995 he built a large following performing regularly at the Beşiktaş Culture Center, becoming one of Turkey's most recognized comedians. His film career began with the 1998 comedy Her Şey Çok Güzel Olacak, directed by Ömer Vargı, and he later reached a mass audience by writing and starring in the G.O.R.A. franchise. He has written, directed and led films such as Organize İşler, Vizontele, A.R.O.G, Yahşi Batı and Karakomik Filmler, and more recently drew attention at home and abroad with the Netflix series Erşan Kuneri. Beyond acting, he continues to draw cartoons and perform music, and has received multiple Sadri Alışık awards over the course of his career.
