Ten to Eleven (11e 10 Kala) (translated)

10 to 11 is a 2009 Turkish drama film written, directed and produced by Pelin Esmer, made as a co-production between Türkiye, Germany and France. Esmer's first narrative feature, it draws on the life of her uncle Mithat Esmer, who also plays the lead role.

Set in Istanbul's Emniyet Apartment building, the film follows Mithat Bey, a retired civil servant devoted to collecting, and Ali, the building's caretaker, a man from an entirely different world. When the residents, fearing an earthquake, want the aging building torn down, the two form an unexpected alliance — one to protect his collection, the other his job — and end up changing each other's fate. The 110-minute film, produced by Sine Film, won Best Screenplay at the 16th Altın Koza Film Festival and shared the Best Film award with Köprüdekiler.
