The Trace (İz)

İz, released internationally as The Trace, is a 1994 Turkish film directed by Yeşim Ustaoğlu from a screenplay by Tayfun Pirselimoğlu. One of Ustaoğlu's earliest features, it blends thriller and mystery elements within a dramatic narrative and was produced by Mine Film.

The cast is led by Aytaç Arman in the role of Kemal, alongside Derya Alabora, Nur Sürer, Meral Çetinkaya and İsmet Ay. Cinematography was handled by Uğur İçbak and the score composed by Aydın Esen. The picture is regarded as a notable work of independent Turkish cinema of its period.

The film received the Best Turkish Film of the Year award at the 14th International Istanbul Film Festival and was presented in the official selection of the 19th Moscow International Film Festival in 1995.
