Can Kolukısa — Biography
Can Kolukısa was a Turkish theatre, film and television actor born in Eskişehir on 14 May 1934. After Işık Lisesi and a period studying economics at Istanbul University, where he joined the university's theatre group, he trained at the Sorbonne Theatre Institute in Paris from 1964 to 1966 and, on his return, performed with companies such as Cep Tiyatrosu, Oda Tiyatrosu and Küçük Sahne.
Over a career spanning more than sixty years, he appeared in films including Kapıcılar Kralı (1976) and Züğürt Ağa (1985), as well as television series such as Asmalı Konak, Hanımın Çiftliği and Muhteşem Yüzyıl, and was remembered by younger audiences for playing the grandfather in the 2022 series Balkan Ninnisi. His work earned him best supporting and best actor honors, and in 2019 he received a lifetime achievement award at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. Can Kolukısa died in Istanbul on 1 August 2026 at the age of 92.
